York River and Small Coastal Basin Roundtable
Community and conservation through collaboration.
The York River and Small Coastal Basin Roundtable provides a forum for information sharing and collaboration among water quality and conservation-minded stakeholders within Virginia's York River, Mobjack Bay and Piankatank River watershed system. The Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia (CBNERR-VA), administered by the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS), has reinvigorated the Roundtable in support of Virginia’s effort to protect water quality and conserve coastal resources for the betterment of its communities.
Mission
The York River and Small Coastal Basin Roundtable fosters place-based coordination and collaboration to improve the health of our watershed and communities.
Vision
A fishable and swimmable York River, Mobjack Bay, and Piankatank River with healthy and resilient habitats and communities across these watersheds, from Piedmont headwaters to the Bay.
Our Goals

Goals were derived through participatory processes, and selected using the following criteria: communal investment and shared priority; current need and future opportunity to establish and enhance related projects; Roundtable capacity to continue to foster related projects; and York River and small coastal basin specificity and applicability.
- COMMUNITY: Engage as a community for the community
- LITERACY: Promote environmental literacy
- CAPACITY: Build capacity
