Three-Minute Thesis @ VIMS
Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an academic competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. The competition challenges students to develop effective academic, presentation, and research communication skills. 3MT® supports the development of students' capacity to explain their research and engage an intelligent but non-specialist audience during a 3-minute presentation supported by a single static slide.
This year, graduate students in the College of William & Mary's School of Marine Science at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science will be participating in this professional and highly engaging international competition. VIMS' second annual 3MT® competition will be held on Wednesday, September 9th and Thursday, September 10th in Watermen's Hall on the VIMS campus in Gloucester Point.
Topics range from striped bass disease in the Chesapeake Bay to plankton community structure off Bermuda to strategies for improving coastal flood resilience in the Mid-Atlantic. First and second-place awards will be determined by a distinguished panel of judges, while the audience will vote to select the two recipients of the "People's Choice" award!
Admission is free to the public. We hope you can be a part of this exciting VIMS tradition!
