Each year the VIMS community gathers in May to recognize and honor exemplary performance by faculty, staff, and students during the previous calendar year.
Freeman Volunteer of the Year Award
This award is named for Robert Mallory Freeman, a former VIMS Council member and supporter who passed away in 2004. Learn about this year's winner.

Outstanding Student Awards
In addition to students honored and supported through privately funded fellowships, VIMS bestows several special awards for exemplary accomplishment in research and scholarship.
Best Student Paper Awards
Each year a committee of faculty and students chooses the best journal articles by VIMS graduate students. Zeigler Student Achievement Award
The Zeigler Award honors the past contributions to student needs of Dr. John Zeigler, the first SMS Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, and the continuing contributions of Mrs. Marilyn Zeigler. Learn about this year's winner.
