SeaCAMEL

During Project SeaCAMEL (Classroom Aquarius Marine Education Live), aquanauts from the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) lived in and worked from the Aquarius underwater habitat in Key Largo, Florida.

During the project, which was funded by the Khaled bin Sultan Living Oceans Foundation, VIMS researchers conducted 6 live “underwater classrooms” from the coral reefs of the Florida Keys. The scientists and a cinematographer lived submerged at 45 feet underwater in NOAA’s Aquarius habitat, called America’s “inner space station.”
