Advisory Service
VIMS has a statutory obligation to serve as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Science Advisor on matters related to coastal and marine resources. We provide science-based advice to diverse stakeholders ranging from state and local government, to maritime and coastal industries, to coastal organizations and communities. A long history of professional and technical advice by VIMS scientists has been foundational to our institutional success and ability to advance science-based solutions to challenging issues. Advisory efforts are coordinated and led by the VIMS Office of Research & Advisory Services (ORAS), which is led by the Associate Dean for Research & Advisory Services (ADRAS).
